Lenka Clayton and Jon Rubin: . . . circle through New York.
Artists Lenka Clayton and Jon Rubin discuss their project „A talking parrot, a high school drama class, a Punjabi TV show, the oldest song in the world, a museum artwork, and a congregation’s call to action circle through New York.“ Connected by an imaginary circle drawn through Harlem, the South Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the six participating venues selected aspects of their identities—referenced in the project’s full title—that rotate among the locations from March 1 through August 31, 2017. In this video, released at the midpoint of the project, participants reflect on what they have discovered through this revelatory system of social and material exchange.
